For this mural at Grossmont College`s Art Department, I wanted to explore something fundamental to art itself: how something as simple as shape and color can become endlessly individual. The composition brings together three very different visual languages. The decorative richness of Gustav Klimt, the simplified forms and bold color relationship associated with Pablo Picasso, and my own interpretation meet across one continuous mural. The figures are different in color, pattern and character, yet they are built from the same visual foundations—shape, line and color. The mural became a small celebration of both individuality and connection: a reminder that although we may look completely different from one another, we are all made from the same basic elements.
