“TEEMING WITH LIFE”
PROJECT
Teeming with Life was commissioned as part of a renovation of Casa Linda Apartments’ pool courtyard, designed to create a more modern and luxurious environment. Located within walking distance of the ocean, the property inspired an ocean-themed 34-foot mural transforming the courtyard wall into a coastal scene above and below the waterline.
Nothing here is completely still
Mural changes with the environment around it. As the sun moves across the courtyard, shimmering surfaces catch the light and sculptural relief creates shifting shadows. The mural looks different throughout the day—moving from the bright, seemingly still world above the water into a quieter world that is, in fact, teeming with life.

DESIGN & MATERIALS
The mural was built on an existing painted cinder-block wall, which was power washed, primed and base-coated. Foam boards were securely attached to create the sculptural relief, then finished with exterior-grade stucco to achieve a natural sand texture. Smooth stucco created a textured surface for the underwater scene. Exterior-grade paints and materials were used throughout, and the entire mural was finished with high-quality exterior sealant for long-term protection.
